The DKFL regular season is 14 weeks long. Each team will play every other team in the league twice. The top six teams at the end of the season will qualify for the playoffs. The top two teams will earn a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The team finishing third will play the team finishing sixth in the quarter-finals. The team finishing fourth will play the team finishing fifth. The winners of the quarter-finals move on to play the two bye teams in the semi-finals. The losers play each other for fifth place. The winners of the semi-final games meet in the league championship game. The semi-final losers play for third place.

Every week, each team may start players at the following positions: 1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 K, 3 DB and 3 DL. Each team is allotted 8 BN spots, which may be used on players of any position. Points are calculated as follows:

Fractional and negative points are allowed.

At the end of each season, every team must designate five players of any position from their final roster to be their "keepers." These players will carry over to the next season. They must be the first five players picked in the draft. Each franchise must send notice of their keepers to the league commissioner no later than one week before the NFL draft.

No player may be a keeper on the same franchise for more than three consecutive years. The exception to this is players that have been designated "franchise players." Each franchise is permitted to designate one player per year who is excempt from the three-year rule.

Failure to comply with any league rule will result in a team being punished with the "Lemon Clause." This clause states that each year a majority of league General Managers will vote to determine the least desireable player in the league and he must be drafted in the first round by the team that commits the rule violation.
